摘 要:西方哲学著作翻译的一大难题是哲学术语的汉译。根据解释学的"不可翻译性"原理,译名之争源于不同译者对于西方哲学思想的解释"境遇"和理解"视域"的不同;从翻译活动的目的看,目前哲学界比较认可的关于being的译名"是"虽然益处多多,但将面临如何在汉语中扎根、存活的严峻挑战。在目前国际交流日益频繁的环境下,不妨可以将being这类哲学基本术语直接引入汉语,作不译之译。In translating western philosophical works, one of the difficulties is the translation of the philosophical terms, for a term usually has more than one means and it is always very hard to determine which one is the best. Instead of continuing the argument, this paper tries to analyze the cause behind the controversy upon the translation of philosophical terms with the theory of " untranslatability", and to point out that shi (是), as a mostly-accepted translation of the term being, may face the challenge of its assimilation into Chinese. Finally, the paper suggests that in consideration of the increasing international academic communication, perhaps the best way to translate the term being is to introduce it into Chinese without any change of its sound or form.
