摘　　要：英语学习者语用能力的缺失是造成跨文化交际过程中交际失误的主要障碍之一。通过探究语用能力的理论渊源,阐述一个成功的英语学习者应该习得哪些语用能力,并通过实例分析,说明语用能力的习得在跨文化交际过程中避免语用失误的重要意义。The lacking of pragmatic competence is the primary barrier for the Chinese English learners to fulfill their cross-cultural eommunieation purposes. This paper mainly discusses the theories of pragmatic competenee and the the acquisition of pragmatic eompetence for a good English learner. It also points out the importance of the acquisition of pragmatic competence for the English speaker to avoid pragmatic fails in their cross-cultural communication by analyzing some actual examples.
