词语的文化内涵与英语教学

摘　　要：语言与文化有着密切的联系,它是文化的一部分。语言不能脱离文化而存在,词语的文化内涵是词语意义不可分割的一部分。我国各级学校,特别是中学里的英语教学,必须充分注意向学生传授语言知识的同时向学生传授文化知识。本文从讨论语言与文化的关系入手,对比分析中英词语的文化内涵,并提出在跨文化交际与英语教学中应对的策略。There is a very close relation between language and culture:language is part of cul- ture.Language can't be separated from culture,and the cultural connotation of a word is an inseparable part of the meaning of the word.In our country's schools,middle schools in particular,teachers of English must make sure that cultural knowledge,as well as linguistic knowledge,is taught to students in the course of English teaching.This essay presents a discussion of the relation between language and culture and a contrastive analysis of the cultural connotation of words in the English and the Chinese languages. It also presents some suggestions as to help our students in intercultural communication and English learning.
