摘　　要：This article intends to delve into the legacy Cather has left for us in O Pioneers! from two perspectives:the ecological responsibility and the calling for returning to nature. The study proves that Willa Cather displays an ethic of interconnection and caring in natural spaces and it shows she is a writer who is much concerned with the proper relationship between the human and nonhuman world.
