胡适在翻译史中被边缘化现象的改写理论解析

摘　　要：本文依据改写理论,论证新文化运动时期胡适对外国作品多种形式的改写——即广义的翻译——无论是自身的翻译研究价值,还是对目的语文化和文学的导向与影响都有着狭义翻译无可替代的作用,但胡适在译史中却处境尴尬。这种现象在译界有其普遍性,是翻译及翻译史研究中的薄弱环节。文章深入分析了该现象所反映出的多方面的问题,并提出建议,旨在引起译界的重视。This essay attempts to draw researchers＇ attention to the study of translation in a broad sense, namely, the various rewriting forms put forward by André Lefevere in his rewriting theory. It takes the study of Hu Shi （ a leading figure in the New Culture Movement） as an example and points out that although Hu＇s rewritings made great contribution to the construction of the new literature and culture, very little so far studies Hu Shi from this perspective. As a result, Hu Shi＇ s status in the history of translation at this period remains marginalised. This phenomenon reflects the weakness in the field of the history of translation studies in China. The article analyses the various causes behind this phenomenon. The essay argues that rewriting by influential scholars plays as significant a role as, if not more significant than, the narrow-sensed translation in importing foreign ideology and poetics, in establishing images of foreign writers and their works and in influencing the target literature and culture.
