摘 要:外宣材料的英文翻译质量是决定外宣效果的最直接因素,但目前却是地方对外宣传中最薄弱的环节,有不少亟待解决和改进的地方。本课题抽样调查了廊坊行政、事业和企业单位的英译宣传材料,试图在此基础上,针对地方外宣英译问题做出比较全面的分析,找出问题的根源,以便探索解决地方外宣英译质量问题的途径。English translation of Chinese publicity materials plays a vital role in promoting the development of a region in China. In recent years, however, many mistakes and problems in Chinese-English translations have occurred in such publicity materials as company profiles, product introduction, city profiles, trade fairs brochures, etc, which may lead to confusion or misunderstanding. While pointing out major problems in English translation of publicity materials of Langfang, a city which boasts its geographically advantageous location between two major Chinese cities, Beijing and Tianjin, this paper discusses the causes and puts forward some suggestions for better getting across the message.
