A Hundred and Seventy Chinese Poems is what makes Sinologist Arthur Waley famous in the academic circle of sinology. His successful translation of the poetry in this book brings Chinese poetry to the westerners and influences Anglo-American poetry by making Chinese elements a part of English literature. This paper analyzes "Five ‘Tzu-Yeh' Song" in A Hundred and Seventy Chinese Poems, and its influence on American woman poet Caroline Kizer to show how Waley's creative translation brings Chinese literature into English literature and the significance of Waley's translation in introducing Chinese culture and constructing the total cultural strategy.
