摘  要:"生活化英语"遇到的最大挑战就是如何处理"文化—工具"关系,"文化动机"强调语言学习是文化"习得"(acquisition)活动,而非机械"学习"(learning)活动,但在"工具动机"下,"生活化英语"被当成是一种更好的急功近利的教学手段。如何回归"生活化英语"教学的本来面目?本文认为,英语教学要以学生为中心,而不是将英语强行"灌输"或"转移"给学生,要抛弃教师表现比学生表现更能影响学生学习的观点。在目前情况下,主张借助"工具动机"来摆脱"工具动机",最终督促英语教学向语言文化回归,向生活化知识回归,在文化情境中掌握英语。How to deal with the relationship between culture and instrument is the biggest problem challenging the whole language approach. The cultural motivation emphasizes that language learning is culture acquisition rather than mechanical learning activity. However, influenced by the idea of instrumental motivation, the whole approach is seen as a shortcut in language learning activity. How can we use the whole language language approach in a correct way? The article maintains that students are the main role of language learning and it is the student who can influence the language learning. We can be free from the instrumental motivation with the helping from cultural motivation to urge the language culture.
