摘　　要：当前英语作为使用最广泛的国际通用语已"渗透"到我国社会的各个层面。在愈演愈烈的英语热中,如何保持清醒头脑,在学习英语和借鉴西方文化精华的同时,维护本民族语言文化的独立性和纯洁性,并关注世界语言的生态平衡,是高校外语教学中的一个重要课题。Nowadays, as the most widely used international language, English has permeated almost every aspect of China. In the ever growing rush for this foreign language, how to keep our mind cool in maintaining independence and purity for our mother tongue and our national culture, and to maintain the ecological balance for all languages, is a very important project. This essay first discusses how English permeation has affected the Chinese language and culture and then deals with the responsibility and duty of the foreign language teachers in colleges and universities.
