摘  要:本研究基于Brown和Levinson的面子理论框架,对大学英语教师课堂话语进行调查,结果发现教师话语中存在面子威胁行为,且行为的强弱取决于师生对社会距离、相对权力和特定文化对具体言语行为强加程度认定的感知。大多数教师都努力采取面子礼貌策略降低面子威胁行为,这些策略与我国大学英语教学语境,如教学目标、师生人际关系、学生个性密切相关。Based on Brown & Levinson' s model of politeness, an attempt is made to analyze discourse from college English classrooms, which leads to the findings that face-threatening acts do exist in college English classrooms in China. It has proven that the seriousness of face-threatening acts depends on social distance, relative power and ranking of imposition as perceived by both teachers and students. The study of college English teacher talk indicates that teachers are more or less using face politeness strategies to reduce the seriousness of face-threatening acts, which is largely a result of their awareness of college English teaching context in China, such as teaching aim, teacherstudent relationship and students' personality.
