认知理论视域下的英汉隐喻翻译

摘　　要：隐喻不仅仅是一种修辞方式,而且是一种认知方式和推理机制。从认知角度来说,隐喻的翻译是源语篇章到目的语篇章的映射。本文基于隐喻作为修辞手法和认知方式的理论,重点从认知的新视角分析隐喻的英汉互译过程,以丰富的语料为例,详尽探讨英汉隐喻的翻译过程、策略和方法,灵活运用映射对等和偏移等效两种翻译方法,以准确传达意义,重塑文化意象,或适当修改意义将意义与形象完美结合,使原文信息得到准确完整的交流与共享,以促进英汉两种语言文化的理解和交流。Metaphor is not just a rhetorical device,but also a way of cognition and reasoning mechanism.From a cognitive perspective,the translation of metaphor is the mapping of a source text into the text in the target language.Based on the theory of metaphor as a rhetorical device and a way of cognition,this article focuses on the mutual translation of English and Chinese metaphor from a cognitive perspective.With rich materials as examples,this article deals with the process of mutual translation of English and Chinese metaphors as well as its strategies and methods.The author suggests that two translation methods should be used flexibly such as equivalent mapping and transformation with equivalent effect in order to accurately convey the meaning,reshape the cultural image,or merge the meaning and the image through appropriate amendment,so that the original information is accurately and completely exchanged and shared,and communication between English and Chinese cultures is promoted.
