摘　　要：波波维奇和霍尔姆斯的"元文本"理论对于翻译研究具有重大的启示作用。根据"元文本"理论,文学是现实的反映,翻译是反映的反映,即翻译是一种元语言活动,翻译文本是一种元文本。将翻译看作是一种元语言活动可以揭示翻译的本质,为解决可译性问题提供有益的启示,可以提高译文和译者的地位。Popovich and Holmes＇ theory of metatext is insightful for translation studies.According to the metatext theory,literature is the statement of reality,and translation is statement＇s statement,that is,the process of translating is a metalanguage activity,and translation is metatext.This idea can help reveal the nature of translation,resolve the dispute over translatability,and improve the status of translation and translator.
