摘　　要：陶愚川先生是中国现代著名的教育史学家,为了实现写一部新的中国教育史的愿望于1950年毅然诀别父兄、放弃优裕的生活环境而由香港回国,先后在泰安转干速成中学、曲阜师范大学从事教学与研究五十余年。由于特殊的家庭背景和孤僻的个性,使其在"反右"和"文化大革命"中屡次成为被批斗的典型,蒙受了许多不白之冤,也造成了他从不主动与人交往、交谈的习性,成了一名"怪教授"。他一生坎坷异常,孤身一人顽强地与命运抗争,忍受着常人难以想象的身心煎熬,身处逆境仍刻苦钻研,奋笔疾书,实现着自己的人生诺言。他先后写出了十部共四百余万字的教育史书稿,但只有《中国教育史比较研究》(三卷本)得以出版面世,以其内容丰富、体例新颖、见解精辟、方法创新而深受教育史学界的称赞。Tao Yuchuan is a distinguished scholar in educational history in contemporary China.In order to realize the goal to write a new history of Chinese educational history,he gave up the comfortable living conditions in Hong Kong and came back to China's Mainland in 1950.He firstly worked in Tai＇an Zhuangan Sucheng Middle School,then taught and researched in Qufu Normal University for more than 50 years.Due to his special background and dissociable personality,Tao suffered a lot of unrighted wrong in the Anti-Rightist Movement and Cultural Revolution,which made him a＂weird professor＂who never took the initiative with people.Rough and rugged paths of life did not change his determination of research;he studied assiduously to fulfill his promise of life.Although Tao finished ten books with more than four million words,only A Comparative Study of Chinese Educational History（three volumes）was published. The publication has been praised for its rich content,distinct style,incisive opinion and method innovation, having a far-reaching influence on researchers of educational history.
