摘 要:本文通过对现阶段我国汉语和外语关系问题的认识的调查,试图分析我国英语热的根源及其后果,指出英语热不仅是殖民时代西方帝国进行殖民霸权的结果,也是后殖民时期全球化的一个重要特征。处于转型时期的中国,一方面需要认识到语言对于经济发展和国际交流的重要作用,继续加强外语教育,同时也需认识到,在现阶段外语教育不应仅仅局限于英语教育,还应包括除英语之外的多种外语的教育,应该语言精英教育与语言素质教育并举。Based on a questionnaire among people of different trades and educational backgrounds on their views of the present status of Chinese and foreign languages and their relations, the authors of this paper attempt to reveal the cultural roots of the present English heat and its consequences. The authors point out that the English heat is the result of the westerners' Eurocentric colonizers' model and the globalization. China, as a transitional country, therefore, needs not only to reinforce English education so as to keep boosting its economic development for a louder voice on the international forum but also to be clear that it is necessary and urgent to have a muhi-foreign-language education system. All-round education and elite education should both be strengthened in China' s foreign language education.
