摘　　要：本文简要概述英语词汇发展历程中同义现象的产生背景,指出英语否定前缀in-,un-和non-的同义往往分属于不同的语源,一般要与同语源的词干结合;以及它们的产出构词能力与分布规律;语义区别特征。This essay briefly analyzes the diachronic study of English word-formation in an at- tempt to depict English negative prefixes from an etymological perspective.One way to distinguish English synonyms is to detect their origins:in-and un-are separately at- tached to word bases that share origins.Description of the negative prefix's productiv- ity,distribution and distinctive characteristics in meaning are also mentioned.
