摘  要:自18世纪以来,国外已有拉丁、法、英等多个语种的《尚书》译本问世,其中西方汉学家理雅各的《尚书》译本,"自行世以来即已成为西方有关中国学术的经典作品,至今不能废"。从准确性、完整性和学术性等方面综合考证,迄今为止,理氏译本的确是无以替代的最佳《尚书》译本,其译注彰显了一丝不苟的朴实学风,而这种朴实学风的形成,正是其践行"解经先识字,译典信为本"理念的结果。Shangshu has been translated into various foreign languages including Latin, French, and English since 18th century. Legge's English rendition, however,which contains both translation and annotation, has been acclaimed worldwide as a monumental work ever since its first appearance, and still remains today a standard edition on Chinese learning in Sinological circles for its pre- ciseness, fullness, and scholarship. Anyone who has read Legge's rendition cannot fail to be impressed by his down-to-earth style of work. His success proves the correctness and effectiveness of his thought on translating Confucian scriptures, and still remain his style of study:A thorough and scrupulous work of the original is indispensable, and faithfulness and accuracy must be given the top priority.
