摘  要:为解决因文化隔阂导致的传播阻断,理雅各采用了"语码转换+文化诠释"的翻译策略,使其《尚书》译本带有明显的"厚重式翻译"性质。原文中高度凝练的数字式略语、言约义丰的专名、颇有来历的典故、言此意彼的隐义等,通过理氏详注,深刻内涵得以阐发。译注过程中,理氏尊重中国经学传统,吸收前人研究成果,但不盲从,不照搬,而是带着批判的目光,进行独立的思考。理氏译本不仅为儒经西译体制做出了开创性贡献,更丰富了跨文化传播中的文化诠释模式。In order to prevent cultural differences from obstructing cultural dissemination,Legge adopted the strategy of "linguistic transformation plus cultural interpretation",thus making his rendering of Collection of Ancient Texts a "thick translation".Through detailed annotation,the profound meanings in the numeral compact expressions,proper names,allusions,implicit references,etc.,in the original were revealed.While respecting the Chinese tradition on the study of the Confucian classics and extensively absorbing the research results made by the previous scholars,Legge never followed or copied anyone blindly.On the contrary,forever with a critical eye,he was able to make independent judge,logical inferences,and insightful comments about both the original text and the previous studies on it.His version of Collection of Ancient Texts,together with his versions of other Chinese classics,has not only helped establishing the style of translation of Confucian classics,but also enriched the modes of the cultural interpretation in intercultural communication.
