摘　　要：The growth of translation studies as a separate discipline is a success story of the 1980s.Translation studies have developed in many parts of the world.Over the last two decades,translation has become more prolific.It is widely agreed that translation and translation studies have obtained huge development and flourished.In contrast with the past,translation and translation studies has become more visible and more respectable activity.Alongside with translation itself,a new field of academic study has come into existence which initially called ‘translatology’.It has gathered remarkable academic momentum and now was called Translation Studies.Before the ‘cultural turn' emerged in translation studies,Itamar Even-Zohar,developed a Polysystem Hypothesis in 1970s which was originally designed as a theoretical framework for the study of literature and language in their cultures context.His theory has made a great impact and influenced on the translation studies.Hence,this has in turn hampered the development of the theory.Because of this,a number of Translation Studies scholars have taken a ‘cultural turn' in the subject of translation studies.Into this transformation movement,Andr é Lefevere and Susan Bassnett were two outstanding translation studies scholars.They focused on the ‘external politics' of translated literature by avoiding Polysystem terminology.The growth of translation studies as a separate discipline is a success story of the 1980s.
