《论语》的篇章结构及英语翻译的几个问题

摘　　要：《论语》被历代儒学家看做是中华民族精神的源头,其对中国哲学、伦理、宗教、文学、艺术、教育、政治、经济等领域的影响是巨大的,并因此成为学者们长期研究的对象。有关它的篇章结构问题,历来颇有争议。本文的讨论从《论语》的篇章结构及其语篇连贯分析出发,主要通过对其篇章结构的分析提出与其英语翻译有关的几个问题,如书名的翻译,"篇"、"章"和"篇名"的翻译。本文的结论是:《论语》的篇章结构是衔接的,其意义是基本连贯的。Confucius Lun Yu（or The Analects） has been influencing the Chinese ideology for the past two thousand years.However,there have been arguments concerning its textual structure,the main point of which is whether Lun Yu is a coherent text in terms of its textual structure.The theoretical basis of this paper is Systemic Functional Linguistics and the conclusion is that the text is coherent from a systemic-functional perspective.By discussing issues on the textual structure of this classic piece of work,the paper illustrates why the translation of the book title and chapter headings deserves our special attention.The paper concludes with some tentative suggestions on the translation of this piece of work.
