摘　　要：在短篇小说《心底之蛇》中,霍桑一方面以蛇隐喻了人皆有罪,另一方面,又将蛇拓展为一种自我主义的隐喻。本文分析了其罪恶存在的根源是过分注重自我,丝毫不顾及他人,进一步提出其救赎方法,即忘记自我,心怀他人。最终反映霍桑的核心思想是:爱才是拯救人类的真正力量。In Bosom Serpent, on one hand, Hawthorne indicates the sin of all people with snake metaphor; on the other hand, he extends snakes to be a kind of egotism. This paper analyzes the root of sin is too much attention to self and no consideration for others. Furthermore, it gives the salvation methods, and that is to forget self and care for others. Finally, Hawthorne＇ s core thoughts indicates true love is the real power to save the humanity.
