摘　　要：福克纳在创作上的一个重要特点是对人性和人的生存状态的关注,这在小说《八月之光》中得到了充分的体现。文章通过分析处于种族主义和清教主义双重枷锁禁锢中南方人的生存状态,及人物莉娜和克里斯默斯身上所体现出的南方人固有的坚强不屈的优良品质,来剖析阴霾社会中充满人性光辉的光源所在,并重申了福克纳对南方人重生的期盼。One of Faulkner＇s most important features of writing is his concern about humanity and human being＇s living conditions,which is fully embodied in the novel Light in August.By analyzing American Southerners＇ living conditions,which is fettered by the double shackles of racialism and Puritanism,and the innate unyielding character of Southerners＇ that reflects on Lena and Christmas,the article explores the humanistic light of the dark society and emphasizes Faulkner＇ s expectations to American Southerners＇ new life.
