摘　　要：柏拉图在《理想国》提出的"洞穴喻"以其深意和张力给了世人无限启迪。作为长期研究哲学与历史的学者,W.E.B杜波依斯对柏拉图的思想有独到和深刻的理解。其著作《黑人的灵魂》多处影射柏拉图的"洞穴喻"。其中的短篇小说《约翰的归来》则是在奴隶制阴影的语境下对"洞穴喻"的一次鲜活改写。以古希腊哲学家柏拉图的洞穴喻为观照,杜波依斯小说中所蕴含的哲学审美意义和教育思想则有更深刻通透的展现。Plato’s＂Allegory of the Cave＂in his work The Republic enlightens people all over the world with its profound connotation and moral.As a scholar of philosophy and history,W.E.B Du Bois has good understanding about Plato’s thought.The reflection of Plato’s＂Allegory of the Cave＂on his famous work The Souls of Black Folk is obvious.And the short story Of the Coming of John is actually a vivid rewriting of＂Allegory of the Cave＂.The philosophy,aesthetics as well as the educational thought included in the short story can be interpreted with the enlightenment of Plato’s＂Allegory of the Cave＂.
