On Precondition,Process,and Product of College English Teaching Reform in Newly-established Universities

摘  要:新建本科院校是我国大陆地区高等院校扩招的产物,人才培养目标定位为培养"应用型人才",有别于研究型院校。但新建本科院校的大学英语教学受研究型院校影响较大,本文以新建本科院校的发展状况和人才培养定位为切入点,分析其大学英语教学和教研现状,提出该类院校的大学英语教学改革应当做好生源群体特征研究、科研成果积淀、社会英语语言能力需求调查三个方面的工作。Newly-established student enrollment throughout universities are the results of the China, which transitioned from an sudden and dramatic increase in college elite-only educational model to a holistic, mass educational model. The overall training objective of these universities is different from that of research- oriented universities, which is to cultivate application-oriented talents. However, the teaching of their college English course is dominated by the style of the research-oriented universities. This article describes the development and overall training objective of newly-established universities, analyzes their conducts in college English course, and suggests that the teaching reform for such universities should be based on thor- ough study of students' needs and population characteristics, accumulation of a broader base of teaching and academic reports, and comprehension of employers' demands on graduates' linguistic competency.
