摘　　要：方国瑜教授于1963年发表的《论中国历史发展的整体性》是针对国内外一些学者将中国历史当作单一的汉族历史,将非汉族的中国少数民族的历史排除在中国历史之外的荒谬言论而提出来的。论文揭示了中国的社会结构在经济与文化的整体性,在政治上分裂的偶然性与统一的必然性,在社会发展上的差异性与一致性,论述了中国统一多民族国家形成发展的根本原因、历史真实和发展趋势。在面临新的边疆危机之时,我们重新学习方国瑜先生提出的中国历史发展的整体性,对于维护祖国的统一、加强边疆的建设、促进民族团结,有着十分重要的意义。Completeness of the Historical Development of China which was an academic paper written by Professor Fang Guoyu and pub- lished in 1963 was a criticism of the fallacy by some scholars who regarded the history of the Han nationality as the history, of China and excluded the histories of the minority groups in China. Professor Fang Guoyu in this paper revealed the economic and cultural complete- ness of the social structure of China, the contingency of political split and the inevitability of unification, the differences and similarities of its social development, the deep - rooted causes, history and prospect of China as a multi - ethnic and unified country. When new borderland crises have occurred, the re - study of Professor Fang Guoyu＇s idea on the completeness of the historical development of Chi- na has much significance to the maintenance of our national unity, the borderland construction and the promotion of ethnic unity.
