摘 要:翁显良是国内将古诗译为散文的代表译家,其诗歌翻译艺术丰富多样,值得思考、总结。从书法艺术的角度来看,翁显良古诗英译的艺术特色表现在四个方面:书意与译者的再创造、虚笔与诗情的演绎、布白与空间化诗味的传递、生命的整体与篇章的重构,从而可以看出书法艺术之于文学翻译现象的解释力以及之于文学翻译实践与批评的价值与意义。Weng Xianliang is a leading Chinese translator of ancient Chinese poetry into English prose. His art of poetry translation is rich and varied, providing much food for thought. Based on the art of Chinese calligraphy the present paper makes a preliminary study of Weng Xianliang' s art of translating ancient Chinese poetry into English prose in terms of the four relational pairs: the calligraphic significance and the translator' s recreation, the empty technique of writing and the presentation of poetic feeling, the arrangement of blank space and the spatial implication of poetic flavor, and the organic whole of life and the textual reconstruction. It aims to shed light on the art of Chinese calligraphy as an explanatory tool for some instances of literary translation as well as its value and significance for literary translation practice and criticism.
