摘 要:本文以基于语料库的方法探究莎士比亚戏剧中程度副词的汉译及汉语程度副词在三个莎剧汉译本中的应用情况,论证了一个翻译共性,即强化/弱化。通过数据统计和语料分析,本文发现:1)英语程度副词汉译在三个汉译本中体现出不同的强化、弱化趋势;2)相比而言,绝度副词和高度副词汉译的弱化趋势比强化趋势更显著。本文认为英语程度副词汉译中所呈现的强化/弱化趋势的动因主要有客观和客观原因,前者表现为:1)英汉语程度副词的用法存在差异;2)由于程度副词表示程度量的模糊性和无界性,译者对于英汉语程度副词所承载的语义信息强度把握不定。后者表现为译者对翻译活动的积极介入。The present study investigates three Chinese translations of some typical English adverbs of degree in Shakespeare' s plays and application of Chinese adverbs of degree in these translations, attesting a translation universal--strengthening/weakening in translating English adverbs of degree. This study shows that in translating English adverbs of degree, the three Chinese versions are featured by strengthening and/or weakening to different extents, and that the weakening tendency is more salient than strengthening tendency in translating adverbs of absolute degree and high degree. Moreover, this paper provides a tentative explanation for the feature of strengthening/weakening in translation. The objective reason is reflected in: 1 ) differentiations between English and Chinese adverbs of degree and 2) vagueness and unboundedness of adverbs of degree that make translators uncertain about their semantic information. The subjective reason is reflected in translator's subjectivity in translating.
