摘　　要：基于"第三才子书"《玉娇梨》1827年的英译本,考察中国古典小说西译的目的以及译本的异域情调、注释、增删、诗学、隐喻、文雅敬体、科举专有名词的翻译特征及存在的不足,透视"中学西传"历史语境中的中国古典小说的外译概貌。Based on the English version of ＂the third talented masterpiece＂ IU-KIAO-LI published in 1827, this paper generalizes its motivation of translation, major translation strategies such as exoticism, notes, enrichment and omission, and the features in translating poetic language, metaphors, honorific, specific items in the imperial examination, and some limitations in the version as well. The paper expects to shed light on the historically dissemination of classical Chinese literature into the West.
