He puts efforts in exploring and developing new learning technology to underpin learning, research and innovation. He has worked for several institutions in high education as presidents or advanced administrator. He has more than 25 years of experience in the global education, and has served in campus roles from professor to dean, CIO and provost, and president. Up to know, has written five books, seven chapters, published more than 60 papers and research reports on the topic, and delivered more than 100 keynote addresses to a long list of distinguished groups and organizations all over the world. In the past 20 years, New Media Consortium, which is a none-profit organization with hundreds of number from well-known universities, museums and top enterprises, is concerning on emerging technology in education. Larry is the founder of the Horizon Project, This project has released a series of Horizon Reports with six languages, which covers the topics such as visual literacy, learning objects, educational gaming, immersive learning, the future of scholarship and social networking. So far, all Horizon Reports are used by over 1.25 million educators in 150 countries. In this interview, Dr. Larry Johnson shares the history of Horizontal Report, gives a brief introduction, and comments on the state and trends of global ICT in education. He holds that the emerging technology goes to the trends of personalization, socialization, and mobilization, which are benefit to facilitating the deep integration between ICT and education. He suggests that ICT in education has made great progress globally, especially in the developing countries. He reminds us that we should not exaggerate the role of ICT because its capacity is limited. He points out that the big problem in the integration of ICT and education is lack of research on instructional psychology, learning psychology and pedagogy.
