摘 要:在有关观音信仰的传世文献中,有一类专以劝人向善为目标的观音劝善文,它区别于观音宝卷、符咒、灵验记等以宣教为主的文本,故称励行式观音劝善文。这类劝善文在晚清到民国时颇为流行,流通本子较多,内容通俗,注重为民众排忧解难,是当时新型的劝善文。观音劝善文具有很强的以教辅世特征,从其成书的权威性、宽慰民心、顺应时代等方面都可以看出这一特点。观音劝善文以中国本土的"天人感应"思想作为叙事背景,彰显了善恶报应的正义性,并以注重惩恶的方式增加了劝善的效力,由此就超出了正统佛教的教化立场,呈现出观音在中国的新形象。Among the existent Avalokiteshvara's teachings,there is a sort focusing on persuading people to be good by being strictly self-disciplined. Being easily understood,and focusing on people's daily problems,thus very popular in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic period before 1949,Avalokiteshvara's teachings for persuading people to perform good deeds,showed their nature of moralization,as can be seen clearly from the authorization of copies of various editions,the function of relieving the depressed and conformation to the times. Avalokiteshvara's teachings of this kind just took as their narrative backgrounds the Chinese ideology of interaction between Heaven and Man,telling the world about the justice in 'virtue is its own reward'and vice versa,and strengthening the moral teaching with horrible punishment of the evil doers,thus going beyond normal Buddhist moralization,to impress the world with a new image of Chinese Guan Yin( Avalokiteshvara).
