论音译汉字的选择及其修辞功能

摘　　要：音译不仅是一种译音代义的方法,而且可以是语言修辞中常用、有效的手段。由于汉字同音字占优势,音译过程中汉字选择具有灵活性。音译词有赏心悦目、诙谐幽默、时尚洋气等修辞功能。纯音译词和谐音译词各具不同的修辞功能和修辞效果。Transliteration is an often - used and effective rhetorical device as well as a method of pronun- ciation - based translation. Choice of Chinese characters is free thanks to the dominance of homonyms in the Chinese language. After a detailed summary and analysis of the rhetorical functions which are shared by all transliterated words, or specific of pure transliterated words or homophonic transliterated words, it is reached that different choice of Chinese characters in foreign language - Chinese transliteration leads to different rhetorical functions of being pleasant to the eyes, humorous and fashionable.
