着力传达“故事”背后的“深层内容”——《聊斋志异》闵福德译本的一个特点

摘　　要：本论文对被列入"企鹅经典丛书"的《聊斋志异》闵福德新译本进行了介绍和评述,从译本中《导言》与译者笔记的解读入手,以翟理斯译本为参照,分析指出闵译本最鲜明的特点,在于突破英语世界以往视《聊斋》为"奇异"鬼怪故事的娱乐消遣赏析视角,精准把握并着力传达了《聊斋志异》故事背后的"孤愤"情怀,这是英语世界《聊斋》传播与研究走向深入的标志。This paper introduces and analyzes the new translation of Liaozhai Zhiyi,John Minford＇s Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio,which was published in 2006 as one of the ＂ Penguin Classics ＂. Through a close reading and interpretation of the＂Introduction＂and the ＂Translator＇s notes＂of the book,the author argues that compared to Herbert Giles＇ translation,John Minford did a better job by going beyond the limited entertaining vision and precisely grasping and interpretating the ＂lonely spleen and anguish＂ mood of the strange stories,which means a deeper understanding of Liaozhai Zhiyi in the English world.
