摘  要:能力本位教师教育是20世纪70年代最具影响力的教师教育改革运动,尽管持续时间不长,但对美国和世界其他国家的教师教育改革与发展产生了深远影响。西部州长大学(WGU)是全美第一所通过专业机构质量认证的实施能力本位教学模式的虚拟大学。在现代网络和教育技术的推动与支持下,WGU远程教师教育模式呈现出显著的特征,研究WGU能力本位远程教师教育模式对当前我国教师教育改革具有重要借鉴意义。Competency-based teacher education is the most influential teacher educa-tion reform movement in the 1970 s. Though it did not last long,it had brought profound im-pact on teacher education reform and development for the United States and other countriesin the world. Western Governors University(WGU)is the first accredited Virtual Universi-ty to use the competency-based teaching approach in USA. In the promotion and support ofmodern networks and education technology,WGU teacher distance education mode pres-ents the following distinguishing characteristics:training objectives focus on demonstratingability,entrance way is flexible and open,courses and teaching guide are modularization,personalized learning process,low learning costs,high efficiency teaching quality assess-ment,internal and external integration and professional standards- based operation andmanagement. Researching on Competency-based teacher distance education mode of WGUhas important reference significance for current teacher education reform in china.
