On Western Traditional Liberal Education and Its Evolution

摘　　要：博雅教育是一种历史悠久的西方教育传统,这种重视心智训练的非功利性教育思想,以及它的"七艺"教育内容体系,对西方教育产生了深远的影响。博雅教育自古希腊时期诞生后经历了一个漫长的演变过程。古希腊的博雅教育是一种以休闲为目的的非功利性教育;维多利亚时代是一个重要的转折点,科学技术知识开始进入博雅教育的课程体系,博雅教育的内容与对象产生了很大的变化;当代博雅教育呈现了一个普通教育与职业教育融通的趋势。梳理西方的博雅教育传统及其演变趋势,对目前教育改革会提供有益的启示。Liberal education is a kind of western educational tradition with a long history, it at- taches great importance to the mental training and it is a kind of non- utilitarian educational idea, its ＂seven liberal arts＂ as educational content system, has important influence on the western educa- tion. After the creation of liberal education since ancient Greece, it has experienced an evolution process. Ancient Greek liberal education was a kind of education for the purpose of leisure, not util- itarian education; Victorian age was an important turning point, scientific and technological knowl- edge was included into the liberal education curriculum system, the content and object of liberal ed- ucation produced very big change; Contemporary liberal education presents a trend characterized by the integration of general education and vocational education. Combing the western tradition of liber- al education and its evolution trend, the current education reform can produce beneficial enlighten- ment.
