顺应论对寓言篇名英译的启示

摘　　要：中国古代寓言的篇名翻译面临种种困难,通过对比杨宪益夫妇和乔车洁玲分别英译的《中国古代寓言选》,例证中国古代寓言的篇名翻译需顺应交际语境、语言语境和交际对象,既要尊重中西方文化差异,也要充分考虑译语读者的期待视野,灵活运用翻译策略化解其矛盾。Title translation of ancient Chinese fables faces various difficulties. By comparing the two English versions of Ancient Chinese Fables translated respectively by Yang Xianyi and Qiao Cheiieling, it is concluded that title translation should adapt to communicative context, linguistic context and the reader. The translators should not only respect the cul- tural differences between China and the west but also take into full account the linguistic features of Chinese and western fable titles. Translation strategies should be adopted flexibly to resolve the contradictions.
