摘　　要：近几年来,在"讲好中国故事"和传播良好中国形象的大背景下,典籍英译已经成为学术界的研究热点。本文对典籍英译的发展进行了梳理,结合彼时的时代背景,将典籍英译划分为四个历史阶段,在此基础上,对每个时期的代表性译者与其翻译成就和特点进行了分析。典籍英译史的研究将有助于我们理解典籍英译取得的成绩和遇到的问题,为全球化时代背景下典籍英译的新发展提供一些可借鉴的经验。In the past few years, the study of the English translation of Chinese classics has become a popular issue in Chinese academic circles in the era of ＂telling Chinese stories properly＂ and communicating a positive image of China. The paper studies the history and divides the development of the English translation of Chinese classics into four stages according to historic back- grounds. Then the key translators and their works are discussed. The review of the history of the English translation of Chinese classics will not only give us a better understanding of the achievements made and the problems involved, but provide us with some experience in this field.
