English lyrics being translated into the style of classic Chinese has been highly sought after in recent yearsl With huge popularity among netizens, such translation also enjoys high aesthetic value. Lexical equivalence, syntactic equivalence, discourse equivalence and other aspects under the functional equivalence theory proposed by Eugene A. Nida offers certain guidance to the translation of English lyrics in the form of classic Chinese. This paper intends to analyze the classic Chinese translation of the lyrics of Someone Like You, the pop single performed by British singer Adele, from different aspects of the functional equivalence theory to expound its feasibility in the clas- sic Chinese translation of English lyrics.
