摘　　要：严歌苓的小说《扶桑》是移民文学的经典之作,在美国英译出版后反响不俗,一举登上了《洛杉矶时报》畅销书排行榜,是汉语文学在美国译介少见的成功案例。本文将聚焦《扶桑》英译本在美国的传播与接受,并结合翻译的具体过程,深入探讨其"畅销"的动因,并揭示"畅销"背后的隐忧。以期为中国当代文学"走出去"提供些许借鉴。This paper examines the translation and reception of Yan Geling＇ s classic novel Fusang in America. Various factors like the sensual and exotic taste of book itself, a competent and suitable translator, the domesticating translation strategy and professional publishing practice are found to lie behind its market success, and in the meantime, problems like the incomprehensibility of the major character, the failure to communicate the political message, and the loss of language that this essay will shed some light on th,- ＂,,hi ,＂ flavor also hide beneath the surface.
