量性结合的《老人与海》及其六译本风格对比考察

摘　　要：海明威的《老人与海》在华文圈的流行可谓持续不衰,自1955年张爱玲译本问世以来,海峡两岸先后出现了近30个译本。本文基于自建的《老人与海》英汉平行语料库,采用定量与定性结合的方法从五个侧面对比考察了源文及其50年多来较著名的六个译本:即张爱玲(1955)、海观(1956)、余光中(1957、2010)、吴劳(1987)和孙致礼(2012)的风格异同。研究不仅推翻了前贤对个别译本的赞誉,质疑了名著重译的价值,而且尝试了语料库与语境相结合的文体风格多维考察方法,提出了对同一源语多种平行译本间的时空差异对比的期待。Ernest Hemingway＇ s The Old Man and the Sea seems to have enjoyed ever-lasting reception in the Chinese speak- ing circle, an evidence of which is the fact that nearly 30 Chinese translations have sprung up across the Taiwan Straits ever since Eileen Chang＇ s first such version in 1955. This study makes a comparison of both the source text and its six influential Chinese versions, i. e. , those of Chang, Hai Guan （ 1956）, Yu Guangzhong （ 1957 ＆ 2010）, Wu Lao （1987） and Sun Zhili （2012） respectively. The primary objective of the study consists in an investigation into the stylistic features of the source and target texts with reference to five dimensions on both quantitative and qualitative terms. Findings of the study not only repudiate the compliments previous researchers paid to some ＂famous＂ translations, but also cast doubts on the necessity of retranslation of popular foreign literary works.
