摘　　要：2014年对于《聊斋志异》英译具有里程碑式的意义,随着宋贤德(Sidney L.Sondergard)推出第6卷《聊斋志异》英译本,《聊斋志异》英译无全译的遗憾成为了历史。文章拟从三个方面对这一译界盛事进行介评:首先简单介绍宋贤德及其《聊斋志异》英译本;然后论述该译本在《聊斋志异》英译史上的重要意义;最后分析该译本的"异化"特色及存在的不足。2014 witnessed the completion of the English translation of Liaozhai Zhiyi《聊斋志异》（Strange Tales from Liaozhai ）by Sidney L. Sondergard. His translation ended the regret of ＂lack of a complete English translation of Liaozhai Zhiyi＂ and thus is a milestone in the history of the English translation of this great work. This article tries to explore this important event in the translation field from three aspects. It firstly makes an introduction of Sidney L. Sondergard and his translation, secondly discusses the significance of it in the history of the English translation of Pu Songling＇ s marvelous work, and finally analyzes ＂foreignization＂ and the demerits in Sidney L. Sondergard＇ s version.
