摘 要:中外译者在传递鲁迅小说英译本中的文化意象涉及一系列文化问题,诸如文化意象或文化信息误读、错位和失落等等。这种不可避免的现象最主要的原因是译者的创造性叛逆,即译者的个性化翻译,如归化和异化的手段,误译和漏译等。本文选取了鲁迅小说英译本中比较有代表性的两个译本,结合实例分析和探讨中外译者对小说英译本中文化意象的处理,有助我们深化对翻译与文化关系以及文化意象可译性限度的认识,从而更好地进行跨文化传播。The translation of cultural imagery- in English versions of Lu Xun/s short stories is always considered as a tough ques- tion. Both Chinese and foreign translators have met a lot of cultural problems existing in transmission such as distortion, misunderstand- ing and loss of cultural imagery-. The main reason for this unavoidable phenomenon is translator's creative treason which is fully reflec- ted in his/her individualized translation methods such as domestication, foreignization, mistranslation and omission. This paper selects two representative English versions of Lu Xun^s short stories, and tries to analyze the cultural problems through comparative study- of concrete examples. It is concluded that the study- on the translation of cultural imagery may contribute to further understanding of the re- lation between translation and culture, and of the translatabiliU of cultural imagery, thereby helping translators better engage in cross- cultural dissemination.
