乔姆斯基普遍语法理论对于研究外语学习的影响

摘　　要：乔姆斯基建立普遍语法理论,确立了他在全世界语言学界的泰斗地位。该理论虽然充满争议,但它对语言学习的研究具有重大的影响,是语言学习研究领域的重要理论,对解释语言学习的过程具有实际意义。普遍语法理论是在30年前提出的,至今,在母语语言学习和二语习得的研究文献中该理论有着举足轻重的地位,仍然需要研究者从不同角度深入研究。本文探讨乔姆斯基普遍语法理论对于研究语言学习的影响,通过对乔姆斯基语言观的解读、分析普遍语法理论的正反方观点及对外语学习解释的合理性,认为乔姆斯基普遍语法理论适用于母语学习过程的解释,而对外语学习的过程解释力是有限的,说明该理论需要进一步发展才能更好地指导外语学习的研究。Universal grammar(UG)is a theory credited to Noam Chomsky and makes him world famous in the field of linguistics.Although the theor y has been controversial,it is an important theory in language learning and widely used in the related research literature.It has practical significance for explaining the process of language learning.UG was proposed thirty years ago,but up to the present time it is often quoted in the research of language learning and second language acquisition,therefore the theory deserves more research in depth.This paper explores the impact of the theor y on language learning.It will illustrate Chomsky’s views about language and language learning,analyze critical reviews of his views and discuss how it is used to probe the language learning process.The author thinks that UG is appropriate in explaining mother language learning and when it is employed f or second language learning,it has its limitations.Hence UG needs to be expanded for future guide in further research in foreign language learning.
