摘　　要：乔伊·卡罗尔·欧茨常年笔耕不辍,撰写了若干传世的作品,《大瀑布》就是其中杰出的代表,从制作悬疑引发读者的兴趣,到层层展开,细腻描述,到最终的真相大白,和谐欢喜,体现欧茨作为一名作家履行了社会义务,担当了社会责任,呼吁社会的觉醒,民众的觉醒,号召关爱自然,关爱环境,关爱生活。Joyce Carol Oates writes ceaseless all year round, and creates some classical works. The Falls is one of the outstanding representative of the book, which runs through the thinking of family, life, society, environment. From making suspense to cause the readers interest, then exquisite description step by step, then to the ultimate truth, it reflects the theme to fulfill social obligations, bear the social responsibility, condemn and call for the awakening of society, the people. And the ultimate purpose is to care for nature, care for the environment and care for the life.
