摘　　要：本文以改革开放40年来的大学英语课程建设与教学改革的历程为基线,从顶层设计和基层运作两个视角,对大学英语课程在三个不同时段的建设和发展进行概略梳理,分析各时段标志性成果的内在成因及作用,同时也指出各个时段存在的主要问题和矛盾,并对深化大学英语改革提出参考建议。This paper offers an overview of the development of a collegiate program College English in the last 40 years since the Reform and Opening in China.With a top-down and bottom-up strategy,it explores some causal factors for the main features of three distinctive stages in areas of syllabus design,materials development,teaching modes and methods,course assessment,faculty development,etc.and concludes with proposals to improve the teaching quality of the program.
