论哈斯宝翻译《红楼梦》的减法和加法——减少的人物和加长的时间

摘　　要：清代蒙古族文人哈斯宝把120回《红楼梦》节译成40回,题名为《新译红楼梦》,并撰写了回批,在红学史上有重要影响。哈斯宝在翻译《红楼梦》的实践中采取了两个独特的翻译策略:一方面删减了大量人物,删减了大量人物的故事情节;另一方面,在每一个细节的翻译和衔接的过程中把时间放慢,用加长时间、增加动作、细化细节的方法把因为减少人物及其行为而被省略、被缩短的时间补回来,从而保证了翻译小说中的时间按照原著的节奏自然推进,也保证了人物情节和叙事时间的平衡。New Translation of A Dream of Red Mansion,an abridged version of A Dream of Red Mansions by the Mongolian scholar Hasboo has a great significance in the history of the Red Studies.Hasboo abridges the original 120 chapters into 40 by two translation strategies:to delete a great number of characters and plots on the one hand,to lengthen the time by adding actions and details when translating details and cohesion on the other hand.In this way,the development of time in the original work is ensured,and the balance between the plots and narration of time is also kept well.
