社会符号学翻译法视域下西安高校公示语英译研究

摘　　要：高校公示语翻译为留学生及外来访问学者提供便利的同时,其翻译质量也是影响来华留学生接受统一管理和校园服务效率的重要因素之一。目前,西安许多高校内的公示语英译存在指称意义偏误、言内意义失准、语用意义不当、意义严重缺失等问题。利用社会符号学翻译法对这四类问题进行剖析,发现在翻译高校公示语时应统筹考虑符号的指称意义、言内意义和语用意义,以更好地实现公示语的功能,促进高等教育对外来留学生的服务与指引水平。The translation of public signs in universities provides convenience for both foreign students and visiting scholars.The quality of English translation of public signs wherein is one of the important factors affecting the efficiency of foreign students in accepting unified management and services.However,according to the author’s field investigation,there are four main problems in the English translation of public signs in many universities in Xi’an:bias of referential meaning;inaccuracy of intralingual meaning;inappropriateness of pragmatic meaning;serious lack of meaning.By adopting the socio-semiotic approach to analyze these four kinds of problems,it is found that the referential meaning,the intralingual meaning and the pragmatic meaning of the symbols should be considered in the translation of the public signs in universities in order to better realize the function of public signs and thus to improve the level of opening up of universities in Xi’an.
