双关语翻译中变量的意义优化策略

摘　　要：英汉双关语翻译被认为最具技巧性。本文提出,在双关语翻译中把源语的词语和句子及其目标语表达作为具体的常量和变量的概念。我们将源语双关的3个意义设为常量1(双关意义1)、常量2(双关意义2)和常量3(语用含义),将对应目标语的3个意义设为变量1(目标语双关意义1)、变量2(目标语双关意义2)和变量3(目标语语用含义)。通过对源语双关在目标语中的谐义和谐音相关词语的关联枚举,可以推演得到理想的变量优化结果。无论是采用变量的意义关联延伸策略还是变量的意义转移策略都可能产生多个具有双关含义的翻译结果以供选择,从而使一些通常认为不可译的双关语的翻译不仅成为可能,而且可以达到与源语双关相同的语用效果,甚至出现令人拍案叫绝的佳译。The translation of English and Chinese puns from one side to another is regarded as the most skillful work.The variables in translation are introduced at first in this article,and then the concepts of constants in source language and variables in target language in relation to words and expressions in translation of puns are put forward.We set the three meanings of the source pun as constant 1(pun meaning 1),constant 2(pun meaning 2),and constant 3(pragmatic meaning),and set the three meanings corresponding to the target language as variable 1(target pun meaning 1),variable 2(target pun meaning 2),and variable 3(target pragmatic meaning).Ideal results of meaning optimization of variables could be concluded by enumerating the correlative target homophonic and homonymic words and expressions.Both the stretching strategy of correlative meanings of variables and the transferring strategy of meanings of variables might result in multiple targets that are available to be selected,and thus some puns that previously couldn’t be translated into target language in some extent might be translated into the ideal target language which might have the same pragmatic pun meanings of the original,and that some of the translations might have magnificent and asto-nishing results.
