基于语料库的《道德经》两英译本译者风格对比研究

摘　　要：文章基于自建《道德经》平行语料库,采用定性与定量相结合的方法,借鉴译者风格综合研究模式,从语言与非语言特征两个层面考察了林语堂(1948)和斯蒂芬·米切尔(1988)两个英译本所呈现的译者风格。研究发现,两译本均存在简化倾向,可读性较好,有较明显的翻译语料特征,但其风格具有显著差异。林译表达准确充分,但阅读难度较大;以异化策略为主,较好地再现了原文风格。而米译词汇丰富,简洁易懂;以归化策略为主,在一定程度上偏离原文风格。两译本之风格差异与其译者的社会历史语境、身份和素养、对原作的认识、翻译目的等紧密相关。Based on a self-built parallel corpus of“Tao Te Ching”,this paper utilizes a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods,alongside a comprehensive research model of translator's style.This paper examines the translator's style in two English versions by Yutang Lin(1948)and Stephen Mitchell(1988),focusing on linguistic and non-linguistic features.Both versions are found to be readable and exhibit tendencies towards simplification and distinct translation characteristics.However,they differ significantly in style.Lin's version is more accurate and expressive,albeit more challenging to understand.He primarily employs a foreignizing strategy to reproduce the original style.On the other hand,Mitchell's version boasts a richer vocabulary,is more concise,easier to understand,and relies predominantly on a domesticating strategy.Asa result,his version deviates somewhat from the original style.The stylistic differences between the two versions can be attributed to the socio-historical contexts of the translators,their identities and literacy levels,understanding of the original text,and translation purposes.
