There is a substantial difference between leaming and exercise in their real sense.Learning is a social process in which individuals step out of themselves and participate in the consciousness of others and even that of human society, whereas exercise is an embodied and individual process.Different knowledge domains feature diverse ways in which leaming takes place and diverse forms of exercise,as well as diverse relationships between cmue"and"lian"(or ai").In modern domains of knowledge,"aue"is far more important than"lian"(or xi").However,as moden teaching often regards learning more as an individual than a social process,the"exercise-dominated class"often becomes a common form of teaching and learning. The implementation of the"Double Reduction"policy and the great emphasis on key competencies cultivation in today's era call for profound changes in learning views. The achievement of in-depth learning in the classroom calls for retuming to the essence of"leaming",establishing"learning"in its true sense as the center supplemented by high-quality exercises so as to reconstruct classroom teaching.
