变译理论视域下《牡丹亭》英译文本探析

摘　　要：作为中国“四大名剧”之一,同时也是中国著名戏曲家汤显祖的代表作,《牡丹亭》的文学成就颇高。该剧讲述了官家小姐杜丽娘和书生柳梦梅之间一段动人的爱情故事,极富浪漫主义色彩。迄今为止,《牡丹亭》已经被译介为多种语言在国际舞台上传播,于海内外享有盛誉。文章运用变译理论探析《牡丹亭》的各种英语译介,研究发现变译的运用在该剧的翻译中特别常见,对中外译者皆是如此,变译为《牡丹亭》的翻译研究提供了一个崭新的视角。As one of the“Four Famous Ancient Chinese Dramas”in Chinese history with high literary achievement,The Peony Pavilion is a masterpiece written by TANG Xianzu,who is an eminent dramatist and writer.This play tells a touching love story between a noble lady named DU Liniang and an intellectual named LIU Mengmei.Up to now,The Peony Pavilion has been translated and introduced into multiple languages,earning a high reputation both domestically and internationally This paper adopts the translation variation theory to analyze the translations of The Peony Pavilion.The study finds that the use of translation variation is quite common for Chinese and foreign translators in the translations of The Peony Pavilion,which can provide a novel insight and fill the gap in this study field.
