白之的中国诗歌译介研究  

A Study of Cyril Birch’s Translation of Chinese Poetry

摘　　要：白之在美国汉学史上的重要地位和在中外文化交流史上的杰出贡献使其成为国内外研究的热点。白之的中国诗歌译介,作为其汉学研究的重要组成部分,并未引起国内外学者的应有关注。本文以白之的《中国文学选集》为中心,系统分析白之的诗歌观和诗歌翻译特点,研究后发现:白之认为中国诗歌的发展可分为八个发展阶段,不同阶段具有不同的创作风格与文体特点;白之的古诗译介侧重展现诗人苦闷无奈的心境,并试图在译文中传达原诗的视听效果;新诗译介则侧重展现诗歌的韵律特点。Cyril Birch’s important position in the history of American sinology and his outstanding contribution to the history of Sino-foreign cultural exchange have made him a hot spot for domestic and international research.However,his translation of Chinese poetry,as an important part of his sinological studies,has not received due attention from scholars at home and abroad.Therefore,this paper will be cenered on Anthology of Chinese Literature,explain Cyril Birch’s concept of Chinese poetry,and the characteristics of his translation of Chinese poetry.The study finds that:Cyril Birch believes that the development of Chinese poetry can be divided into eight stages of development,with different creative styles and stylistic characteristics at different stages;Cyril Birch’s translations of ancient poems focus on showing the poet’s bitter and helpless state of mind and try to convey the audiovisual effect of the original poems;his translations of modern poems focus on showing the rhythmic characteristics.
